On January 31, representatives of the Baltic and Polish sports higher education institutions visited the future LASE Health Care in Sport Research Center during the annual meeting of the Baltic Sports Science Association, where they got acquainted with the research directions planned in the laboratories of the Center and with the installed sports and health care scientific equipment. It is planned that the new research center will start its activities this autumn, with the beginning of the new study year.

Establishment of LASE Health Care Sports Research Center is realized to strengthen the Academy's research and innovation capacity in all study programs by developing infrastructure, upgrading the Academy's main building, buying scientific equipment, computer hardware,  and arranging modern study and scientific research environment to equip the modern labor market with suitably qualified professionals in the sports and healthcare sectors.

The center is being developed with the support of the European Regional Development Fund, in the project “Modernized LASE STEM study programs in health care” Nr. 8.1.1.0/17/I/013.

Representatives of the board of Baltic Sports Science Association from five sports higher education institutions - LASE, University of Tartu, Lithuanian Sports University, Józef Piłsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw and Vytautas Magnus University in Lithuania informed about the scientific activities of higher education institutions in 2019 and discussed the topicalities of staff and researcher scientific activity, especially high Impact publications.

During the work of the Board, Tomasz Niznikowski, a representative of Biala Podlaska Branch of Józef Piłsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw, informed about the 13th Baltic Sport Science Conference, which will take place on 23 and 24 April this year in Biała Podlaska (Poland).

During the meeting, the foundation and the progress of the international doctoral study program “Sport Science” was also discussed. The doctoral study program is being developed by LASE, Lithuanian Sports University, University of Tartu and Józef Piłsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw with the aim of increasing the development of sports science in the Baltic region and promote closer contacts among young sports scientists.
